DRAMA

[Christ, I feel so pathetic, but this is really what's going on in my life right now. An e-mail to all my friends:]

[Hey Everybody-]

[As I write this, it's quarter to one in the morning. I've had quite a bit to drink, and Patrick's given me a bump of somthing or other, which guarantees that I'll be awake for the duration of this e-mail. I want to put down what's been going on the last couple of days or so, from my perspective. If any of you cares about what I think, you'll read through this, and maybe give it some thought.]

[1. Thursday, Gary invited John and me to dinner at his and Mark's place. John and I had previously decided to spend the night apart, since we'd been with my family on Wednesday, and had plans together on Friday and Saturday. I was clear about this when I came over to Gary's.]

[2. I had dinner on Wednesday with Gary, Mark, Leah, and Sean at Gary and Mark's. I told them that John declined the invitation because of the above circumstances.]

[3. I got home on Thursday after a nice night at Gary and Mark's to John telling me that Patrick and a friend had come over and that they'd socialized and had several bottles of wine.]

[4. Gary called me on Friday and told me that he'd talked to Patrick, and Patrick had said that John had said that he'd "rather have stayed at home and drank rather than gone over to Gary's." Gary implied that this hurt his feelings, but that he was going to keep "extending an olive branch" to John."]

[5. Friday night, I told John what Gary had said. John called Patrick, who said he hadn't talked to Gary that day. John denied having said anything like the above quote to Patrick or anyone.]

[6. Saturday, John called and left a long message on Gary and Mark's machine, denying he said anything like what Gary told me, and asking Gary to call and verify. As of this writing, Gary has not returned that message.]

[7. Patrick came over Saturday night, and was a little indefinite about exactly what was said Thursday night. After I grilled him a bit more intensely, he left, and of this writing, is probably still angry with me.]

[8. John continues to say that he never said anything like what Gary claims Patrick said.]

[I really care about all of my friends in this scenario, including Leah, who somehow hasn't come up in this timeline, yet who I suspect has a part in all of this. What I would honestly like is for everyone to come clean about who said what to whom, and when. I have a feeling that this won't happen, but I just wanted to make my feelings known. We're all supposed to be friends, yet it doesn't seem as though we're treating each other that way. It seems more like we're taking every opportunity to talk shit about one another, which is not how normal adults behave.]

[Can we please try, TRY to be honest, caring friends? That's all I want from every one of you. If we can't, then maybe we need to declare, once and for all, that we're NOT friends, that we shouldn't pretend to be. Obviously, this whole stupid drama has gotten me pretty worked up. I don't know about you, but I don't need this shit in my life. If we're friends, then let's start acting like it. If we're not, then let's get the hell out, and be honest about it.]

[I'd appreciate an honest response via e-mail from everyone addressed in this message. If you don't respond, I will take that as an eloquent answer as well.]

[Thanks,

Bill]
