Generosity and Mirth

[John asks me fairly frequently, "But WHY do you love me?" I am rarely able to come up with a quick answer. Love doesn't need reasons, it simply is. However, I have two ferinstances that speak volumes for me.]

[Last weekend, my parents were out of town, and John and I planned to go up and be alone in their house. On our frequent visits to my family (John's is mostly back east), my grandmother often says she misses us, even though I feel we see her often enough. John had the idea to call her and invite her out to dinner Friday night, a gesture she appreciated with an effusiveness I thought so out of proportion. He also had the idea to invite Violet up on Sunday to share the damnable Cooz with us, a plan which fell thru when I broke the thing. We got our alone time, but, thanks to him, we made a couple of other people feel good, too.]

[Then, last night, our roommates Sebastian and Jacob (Jacob's crashing with us these days, did I tell you? Four queens and one bathroom: eek! So far, it's going very smoothly) go to an early Valentine's dinner because S. will have to work tonight. So John gets the idea that we should send a bottle of wine to their table. We've only known these boys a month and a half, and he thinks of this!]

[He's always doing stuff like this, for me and for other people. I forget, get distracted, don't think it's THAT important. He'll drive me crazy one day, but John...Happy Valentine's Day, you spirit of generosity.]

[P.S. How pissed off am I that the Academy COMPLETELY IGNORED The House of Mirth? Tres, muy, WAY pissed, that's how.]
