Weekend a la mode

[Visit this weekend from John H. Among the odd things he wants to do on this trip to San Francisco is to pack us into his rental car, venture to the wilds of Colma-Daly City, and eat at the Serramonte Mall branch of this place. You may well ask why. Well, as thick on the ground as Marie seems to have spread her brand of restaurant joy (I had the "privilege" to partake at three locations on the sparsely populated Central Coast alone), it seems that some parts of the country only get to enjoy her cuisine direct from the grocer's freezer. Atlanta seems to be one of those areas so benighted, and, on his last visit, when John H. saw an actual Marie's restaurant, where one could actually sit down and order her "food" from a real server, his new mission was born.]

[So, we'll be southbound on I-280 (a.k.a. "The World's Most Beautiful Freeway"), probably on Saturday. So, of course we'll have to hit Target while we're down there. If you're going to Colma, you have to accept your fate. While there is a Costco in San Francisco proper, John and I tend to wait until there's a rental car available before having big-box, suburban shopping experiences.]

[Makes it more special, somehow. I seem to remember Marie makes a mean French apple pie, warmed and a la mode. Save me!]
