2001-03-12 - 13:22:43 A Good 'Un [Well, that was a good 'un, inability to Just Say No notwithstanding. My Chester T-shirt made its debut during a long night on the town. We saw Sebastian's band at the Bottom of the Hill, though respect for his anonymity precludes me from linking to his band's site. Pity, they were fantastic. Apres, I swallowed my pride after my drama with Patrick and Leah, among others, and went to the former's birthday party, and even went with them and others to the End-Up till the wee hours. Leah and I, after not speaking for a month, officially buried the hatchet, though things will never be the same.] [Recovery Saturday took John and me into the afternoon, with just enough time to see a matinee of "The Mexican" (Shrug: Brad and Julia in Abercrombie, James Gandolfini in a goatee) and do our weekly walk up and down Polk. We managed to justify postponing the laundry till Sunday. Jacob had some friends down from Sonoma (They just moved there and grilled me about things to do. Uh...wine?), and we sat and watched "Drop Dead Gorgeous." The film is much better when accompanied by generous amounts of vodka and pot, just so you know.] [There's been a shadow hanging over John and me almost since we moved in together. It's not something a lot of couples talk about, but we agree it's something that can kill an otherwise idyllic domestic experience. We've made attempts in the past to conquer it, but they were always piecemeal and ultimately futile. Yesterday, we finally did it: EVERY PIECE OF FILTHY LAUNDRY IN THAT MONOLITHIC PILE GOT DONE!!!! Some articles of clothing I hadn't seen since the Spice Girls were hot are now hanging neatly in the closet, and we again have enough bath towels for guests and any treat we might trick into a threesome (Ha! Though John H. is supposed to, ahem, blow thru town again this week...) Volunteers?] | |
