August 05, 2002 - 11:40 AM And I'd Do Anything To Get You Into My World [I DESPISE the S.F. main library. I now remember why I haven't gone back to visit in four years. I thought it was because I owe something crazy like $60 for a videotape Sean checked out on my card back in the mid-90's that he never returned. Now I remember...it's the most user-unfriendly, cold, creepy place that most definitely doesn't lend itself (lend, get it? it's a library) to finding what you need or reading in peace. I want to go to one of the cute branch libraries out in a neighborhood like Glen Park or Presidio Heights and curl up in a 70's vintage carel with a plastic-wrapped, hardbound, musty-smelling volume like I did when I was 10 years old in Sonoma and one of the librarians had to come tell me to shush because I was belting out Barbra Streisand's "Woman In Love" with headphones on at the cassette listening station while reading Madeleine L'Engle.] [Or is that too much information?] | |
