Cucina Streisanderrifica, With a Side of Self-Doubt

[As good as it was to reminisce about the Sonoma Regional Library's Streisanderrific* effect on my poor, impressionable childhood psyche, that's all the S.F. Main Horror did for me. Couldn't find a single thing toward my topic. I wasn't much in the mood to look, honsetly - the mood around the house is still swampy. (That's the only adjective I could think of for John's and my ongoing mood.)]

[Thank goodness our first weekly writers group was cancelled. It would've felt silly to show up with pen, paper, and no material. However, I do need to get my ass in gear on this journal article. Now that it's come down to it, I'm feeling like there are an awful lot of political junkies in this city who know a lot more about San Francisco politics than I do, and that I'd be reinventing the wheel to write yet more on Willie Brown, Tom Ammiano, et al. What can my little voice add to what is already a cacophony?]

[I know, I know, real writers don't talk about their writing, they just do it. A dilettante's low self-esteem. Waah waah waah...]

[John and I managed to put off our black moods for a couple of hours last night, taking Leah's mother to dinner at the Perfectly Serviceable Italian Joint Around The Corner while L. worked a stuffy A-Gay benefit at the Friendly Neighborhood Cabaret. We usually go to the Serviceable Joint because it's cheap and close, but we've always had at least one complaint about the food or service. Last night, both were absolutely fantastic. Granted, Leah's hellcat of a mom was in fine form, but I have to say, for once, the gnocchi in Gorgonzola cream sauce (hello, heart attack) didn't sit in my stomach like little creamy lead weights. And every Caesar salad should have that much garlic...]
