Ownership

[From the ever-worthy Feministe:]

37.5 %

My weblog owns 37.5 % of me.
Does your weblog own you?

[That figure was a bit higher than I expected, considering I go days at a time not even thinking about this place. Two days just went by, in fact, in which I wasn't even online. Saturday was a sort-of-productive day at the library, spending time with books at least tangentially related to the law journal article. That night, Max from Santa Barbara and I sat and talked and talked over German food. After years of not knowing what our friendship amounted to, it's good to be needed again.]

[Sunday was Sonoma, again, this time to enjoy my parents' group birthday gift to the kids and the kids-in-law: a grilling class on the patio of the restaurant where my sister got married six years ago. The chef/co-owner of the place had as his theme Asian cuisines and he persisted in calling them and their practitioners (!) "Oriental." John and I raised our eyebrows and asked each other whether anyone used that word anymore. In Sonoma they do...made me realize anew that you can pump a lot of money into a redneck town, but it's still a redneck town.]
