Huntington Comes To The Archbishop

[After one week's delay, I attended my first writer's group last night. First of the current effort, I should say; I've taken a class or two since Pam Adams's creative writing class in the tenth grade. Obviously, none has had any effect. Anyway, this studio (not "group," not "class," but "studio") was five of us, sitting in an opulent rented room over near Alamo Square, just writing. Not talking (much) about writing, not critquing each other's writing, not even sharing much of our subjects with the other members of the group. It was simply a quiet place away from distractions where we wrote for two hours straight.]

[I suppose it worked. The plan had been to work on my law journal article, but it's not far enough along yet to sit and write without lots of research materials at hand, and this isn't that sort of experience. What I did instead was do some hard journalling, really laying out what I'd been doing for the last year/year-and-a-half, and how all the seeds I'd planted are starting to come up and make life's garden a little chaotic. I'm terrible at writing out "to do" lists, and setting priorities in general, and this exercise helped a lot. We'll see how successful I am at follow-up.]
