October 13, 2002 - 7:29 AM Of The Weekend So Far [Strange excitement of the weekend so far: meeting Leah's brother, Drew, fresh off the BART train from Oakland, arriving from Long Beach, where he spent a disappointing month after moving west from Rochester. (N.Y., but I'm sure you knew that already; if I don't know the entire expat population of the Empire State's third-largest city by now, it's not from lack of trying.) 23, straight, tall, pierced, tattoo'd, long-tressed, talky; he'll fit in well here.] [Absolute pleasure o.t.w.s.f.: Having an entire day with no work, no school, and no law journal, and spending it with John. Sure, we passed it housecleaning in preparation for visitors, but it was still...the good us.] [Bitter disappointment o.t.w.s.f.: Missing Mulher on her quick and dirty visit to the Bay Area. Stupid phones, stupid missed connections. *Stomps foot.*] [Taste treat o.t.w.s.f.: A tie between homemade manicotti chez Leah Friday night, or pitcher upon pitcher of margaritas chez nous last night. Mmmmmmany good comestibles begin with M.] [Big yawner o.t.w.s.f.: Sitting last night at a vomitous-smelling dive bar up the street, listening to Travis go on and on about how unsatisfactory the current lack of audience at the Friendly Neighborhood Cabaret is, and how it's getting him down. As the bartender showed us wounds obtained from being attacked by two pit bulls simultaneously, and we eyed some strange gelatinous globules on the bar that looked suspiciously like spooge, T., even if he didn't know it, took one more step toward a career change.] [Et nous voici, a l'hotel victorien mignon autours du...I don't know the French word for corner. (I think I used to know.) Anyway, I'm at work. Schedule cut to 24 hours this week, praise be.]
