[Me, I drank more beer on Sunday and Monday than I have in the last six months (St. Patrick's Day - what a pretext); fought-nigh-unto-breakup with my boyfriend all Saturday night and Sunday morning, then patched things up; saw a better-a-Has-Been-than-a-Never-Was popstar in concert in Redwood City on Saturday night (Hint: Niki Harris and Donna DeLory should be ashamed - her voice has really improved); worked at the Cute Vic more days than I really wanted the whole weekend.]

[Just had a depressing conversation about the war with Timo the Bellman, who, like many, has only a hazy idea about why we're doing what we're doing. A relevant quote: "Well, we don't know that Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden are unconnected." I feel sick to my stomach, and I know it's not because of the beer.]

[My parents are leaving tomorrow for a month in Europe, and while I'm not worried like Mom (we had the "you need to know where the Very Important Papers are kept" phone conversation last week), I can't help but have a small shiver when I realize that when the New World does what it is about to do to the Old - Ashurbanipal's friezes about to be covered over with a perky Laura Ashley print from a Houston mall - my parents will be in that hemisphere as it happens.]

[Eh, no one's safe anywhere. I wear the "any of us could get hit by a bus this minute" slogan on my lapel, but it's at times like these when I wonder how much I've really internalized it.]
