More Conducive to Safety and Sanity: Hydra, or San Francisco?

[Questions I'm being asked these days, my stock answers, and the real answers, as far as I can tell:]

[1. Q: "How'd it go?"
SA: "Good, I think."
RA: "I have no idea. None of the exams confounded me, but I learned a couple of semesters ago that I have no aptitude for predicting my letter grade. I passed, but in a haze of rushed, spit-and-baling-wire improvisation."]

[2. Q: "How do you feel?"
SA: "Tired. This one was rough."
RA: "Absolutely fucking depleted, thanks. My boyfriend thinks I'm a psycho, and hasn't shared our bed in two nights because of the fight we had on Tuesday night and because I sound like I'm coming down with a cold. It hasn't sunk in yet that I'm two-thirds of the way thru with law school. If that agonizing, burning feeling I get every time I turn it a certain way means anything, I think I have carpal tunnel in my right arm. I feel like crap."]

[3. Q: "Do you want to ____."
SA (depending on urgency of request): "Oh, OK..." or "Not right now."
RA: "Are you fucking kidding me?"]

[4. Q: "How's the law journal?"
SA: "Terry's picking it up from the printer today, I'm selling it at graduation, and we're having a meeting right after Greece to start planning next year's."
RA: "ARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!"]

[5. Q: "Are you looking forward to Greece?" paired with either "You're so lucky," or "You're traveling to that part of the world now?"
SA: "Yes," paired with "I know, but it is a class, you know; it's not going to be all tavernas and tanning," or "I'm not worried that Greece is two countries away from Iraq."
RA: "I haven't even begun to start reading the material (it's Socrates, not a comic book), I went even further into debt to pay for it, it's a New College trip (and very likely, therefore, to get screwed up), and there are a couple of people going about whom I have misgivings being stuck on a very small island for ten days. But, yes, I'm keeping a fragile, eager anticipation alive," or "I'm really not worried that Greece is two countries away from Iraq, you dipshit; the shores of the Aegean Sea seem somehow safer than the shores of San Francisco Bay."]
