[If you happen to be in San Francisco, may I recommend Habana (here's the CitySearch scoop), a new Cuban/Latin fusion restaurant on upper Van Ness? John and I had the best meal of our year there last night: ahi tuna ceviche with lime, cucumber and ginger (we), grilled prawns over rice (he), rack of lamb over some unidentifiable but delicious savory corn pudding (me), plenty of scrumptious Rioja (we), and excellent service. (D'ya ever notice what a difference an engaged waitperson makes?) Neither of us knew ahead of time we needed a splurge night out together until it happened, but then we knew how necessary it was.]
