November 26, 2003 - 10:19 AM Now Is That Gratitude? [So, everyone's talking about what they're doing for Thanksgiving. I guess this always goes on, but I seem to be more aware of the pervasiveness this year. It's as though everyone's gathering their holiday plans to themselves, hugging them reassuringly to their respective bosoms, and then showing them off to everyone else. I wonder why it seems so much more blatant this year?] [OK, I'll play. Because of Thursday commitments on the brother-in-law's side, and because Mom is over cooking, my sister's hosting us in Oakland on Friday. John and I have been put in charge of the hors d'oeuvres (Kate: "I don't care what you bring as long as there's cheese." John: "Let's fling a can of Cheez Whiz at her as we enter.")] [This leaves the second half of today and all day tomorrow as either an open void or an unexpected gift; I can't make up my mind. John and I have discussed: wild decadence involving any combination of sex, drugs and rock n' roll (ho hum); cuddling all day and getting caught up on unwatched DVD's and ordering takeout from any restaurant that's open; cleaning house; working (he) and studying (me - finals are once again right around the corner.)] [I dunno. Sometimes a four-day weekend is almost a burden. "Here ya go...don't WASTE it!" Y'know?] | |
