I'm Spinning Around/Get Out Of My Way

[Grrrrr... This post is what I mean by poisoning the well. The last sentence of "Spinning the Hajj" is the most egregious:]

["And if we don't challenge them when their victims are Muslims, we will have much less credibility when the victims are us."]

[Leaving aside any pleasant One-World sentiments (not to mention the copious amounts of blood on "Western liberalism's" hands), there is still no excuse for this kind of "us-and-them" rhetoric. Islam is as much an American religion as any other. Many Muslims (besides the perps) died or lost family and friends on 9/11, and American Islam (not that there's any one such thing) has at least as much at stake in the lessening of terroristic activity everywhere as has any other group. How to accomplish that is, of course, the $64,000 question; so far, we're doing a lousy job, and that's no one's fault but our own.]

[On a different note, we pause for a moment to recognize Massachusetts's Supreme Judicial Court's obvious conclusion that separate is never equal. (And to congratulate our Canadian brethren and sistren for taking the lead, as the court specifically acknowledged.) Fasten your seatbelts; it's going to be a bumpy fight.
