[As I've commented elsewhere, I'm suspicious of Mayor Gavin Newsom's timing and motives in directing San Francisco officials to grant a marriage license to a very venerable lesbian couple today. Nevertheless, the fact that it happened is marvelous news, and I can but believe it to be an important step in the right direction. Congratulations, Del and Phyllis; you've been there far longer than most of us have been alive.]
