Kalamata olives, white-and-blue Greek buildings, Ponderosa pines, salsa verde, All About Eve, being a know-it-all, the contours of Maryland and West Virginia, hugs, kisses, backscratchers, the smell of leather, family trees, the first glass of red wine, Oz, spare synthesizers, macadamias, dick, "Only Love Can Break Your Heart," obscure words in books especially when I know what they mean but even if I don't, butter, entering a David Lynch movie's universe, red bell pepper, singing low and resonant and hitting the right note (usually by accident), drawing an honest laugh from someone, the way the air warms in regular intervals (valley by valley) as you drive north from San Francisco toward Sonoma, twilight, Alison Moyet, barbecuing, noblesse oblige, cloth napkins, being invited, Taboo, cilantro, Bloomsbury, "Just Like Heaven," redwood forests, the newspaper, Cheetos, Lieutenant Uhura, finding small denominations in jacket pockets, "And He Shall Purify" from Messiah, French vanilla frozen custard, you.]
