April 13, 2004 - 12:29 PM Dream Meme [Since it seems to be going around again, I'll just note in passing that last night bore two juicy ones for me, too. First was your typical post-apocalyptic scenario: a group of people living in a not-very-Logan's-Run-esque city, isolated from the ruined "rest of the world," which was believed to have been destroyed by some sort of flood. This was one of those dreams where "I" fade in and out as an actual participant: sometimes I'm there, sometimes I'm just watching the action. Life becomes untenable in Post-Apocalyptic-Ville, and an expedition heads out into the supposedly flooded outside. (No, Tina Turner was not with us.) Turns out to be a well-kept suburban neighborhood just outside the diked walls, with old black families who want to tell lots of homey stories about their church groups to our intrepid band.] [Next was a really convincing trip to Israel and Palestine. I was definitely the star of this one, and I spent a long time waking up, really believing I'd been to the Levant. I spent lots of time tallying up flight arrangements, reviewing whether I'd packed right, etc. I could still taste the falafel, and feel the dry desert air in my nostrils.] [I'm having trouble describing either the intense emotional heft or the depth of detail these dreams held. If you should be so unfortunate as to seroconvert, and have to take Tha Meds, make sure Sustiva is one of them. The dreaming is one hell of a ride...] | |
