You're Gonna Make It After All

[Things sometimes do creep along, and it can become so easy to think that's how it's always going to be. All of a sudden, things all happen at once, and fast fast fast, and you remember, ah, yes; this is what life was like not so long ago.]

[Interview yesterday for a temporary position at a small political consulting firm. I had to be firm with the boss, too: yes, this is something different from what I've been doing, but I really wanna work with you. It'll be good for me to get some experience of what an actual campaign is like, the nuts and bolts, so I can get a clearer picture of where I want to go next. Who knows whether 'twill pan out (callbacks are tomorrow), but at least it's a possibility.]

[Failing that, the agency that placed me at a law firm a couple of summers ago finally called back with a temp assignment for next week. Hey, I'm not proud: I'll receptionist, I'll make the coffee, I'll file briefs and my nails. Just get me income, get me near someone doing something legal or political. Now!]

[Before anything will start, I'm looking at spending part of the Labor Day weekend up at my parents'. They just got back from three weeks in northern Europe, what Dad was calling their "Hanseatic League Tour." I now have a postcard from Brugges hanging on my kitchen wall, next to examples from locales as farflung as Bora Bora, Peru, Togo, and Luxembourg. Someday I'll be traveling, again, too; right now, let's get this Real Life thing going!]

[(Why have two of my friends lately invoked the image of me throwing a beret in the air? Hmmm...)]
