[A slow afternoon here at the FNC box office, and I'm avoiding thinking about the gorgeous weather outside by carrying on simultaneous email conversations with two people in Santa Barbara: with Jessica (and her brother in Arizona), a discussion about the roots of New Wave, and how brilliant and ahead-of-their-time Roxy Music were; with Max, various aspects of South African language and culture. (Not that we've ever been there.)]
