Then, Now, Fireworks

[Before I say anything else - Happy Five Years, Huntington-the-Online-Diary. If you'd have asked me then...well. I don't know. What I do know is that life has changed a lot since early July 2000.]

[Then: Coupled. Now: Single
Then: No degree. Now: J.D.
Then: Never lived alone. Now: Deluxe studio in the sky.
Then: Undiagnosed. Now: Diagnosed.
Then: Clinton. Now: Bush.
Then: Straw. Now: No straw.]

[There are others, I feel sure, and I feel just as sure that I'm still the same person. People tell me I'm less tense, but I find it hard to credit. One other Now: all the folks below left, none of whom were known to me Then. (Well, except Kusala and the Ranger.) That alone has made a huge difference.]

************

[This wasn't going to be an anniversary accolade entry. I wanted to write about the rest of Independence Day, but now that I think about it, it was anticlimactic. Spent the afternoon at Allen's and his roommates' (referred to hereinafter as "Dolores House"; I'm thinking communal living's charms are tempting me again) as they got the place ready for the evening's barbecue. I left just as said BBQ was getting into swing.]

[Buy a burrito at El Farolito, Mission & 24th. BART to the Embarcadero. A shuttle bus up to Pier 41. A frantic search for an ATM before the ferry left. Tranquil transit to Tiburon while munching the burrito. Meet the Parents and their two friends in line for the crowded fireworks cruise. Wine, chat, watch Sausalito's sweet display from practically underneath, then watch S.F.'s from a distance, only about a fifth obscured by fog. Annabelle drops me off at Lombard and Divis, and after having had enough of the Marina in only five Muni-less minutes, I cab it back to my TenderNob sanctuary.]
