Life...How Innnnnteresting

[After a fairly unpleasant lull, life's getting interesting again. On the upside, after two and a half months unemployed, I started a new job today. I'm one of two sales managers at a specialty lighting sales and distribution company. The very homegrown-feeling office is on an off-the-beaten-track street on already-off-the-beaten-track Potrero Hill. I'm working with Charlotte (who got me the job), one of the residents of my new-ish homo away from home on Dolores Street. Thanks, Charlotte; my financial situation has crossed the border into disastrous.]

[Of course, the best news has been my new niece. Audrey doesn't talk much yet; in fact, she's been asleep the duration of both my visits. Kate tells me however, that she's plenty active when I'm not around. This bodes well for ease of future babysitting, though I have no illusions that she'll remain entirely silent. She is, as I'm sure you already know, the most beautiful baby ever born.]

[Also on the plus side, I'm housesitting starting tonight in a great house in quiet Bernal Heights. It'll be nice to have a whole house to myself (well, there are the two cats, but they like a quiet life, too).]

[Neutrally, John's back in town after something like seven months away. I just got back from having a drink with him in the Mission. There are issues, but not between him and me; more like around him and me. I think I've got all my ducks in a row on this one, and I wish certain interested parties trusted me a little more.]

[Now for the bad news. Jessica's in Cancun tonight, as Hurricane Wilma approaches with all its Category 5 fury. Her voice message didn't seem to convey much possibility of getting out. I'd throw in a sardonic line about Mexican authorities having more competence than American vis a vis disaster preparedness, but I'm too worried to go there.]

[Confucius say...]
