November 02, 2005 - 11:31 AM Fully Committed [From an article in the current U.S. News & World Report on the public reaction to the troubles rocking the Bush misadministration:] ["They (the American people) feel like they were sold a bill of goods."] [My fellow Americans, you bought a bill of goods, one year ago tomorrow. I'll never complain again about editorial nitpickers decrying my overuse of the passive voice. Sadly, I can't indulge in much Schadenfreude since I live here, too.] ************************ [Since New Guy used my name over at his blog (you have to belong to Tribe to read him...look for "Big Daddy"), I guess I can call him by his real name. Chris and I are having fun with this, but I found myself forced to carve out some time for myself after a silly Halloween tantrum (blessedly unobserved by others) brought on by overcommitting myself all over the place.] [So, unless my will weakens tomorrow or Friday, no ho-de-o-do-do until the weekend. You know my will is weak when it comes to ho-de-o-do-do, especially when the flesh is ever so willing.] ************************ [I'm writing a letter to my niece that I intend for her to read on her 18th birthday. I want to tell her what life's like for her family in her first weeks among us. What to include? What to leave out?] [Tonight I'm making dinner for the family. Dad suggests I give over my Wednesdays to hanging with the niece and my sister, since my brother-in-law teaches a class that night. It's a good idea; however, I've gotten so used to massive amounts of time alone (and often depressed or escaping depression) that shifting to committing my time is rather unsettling. I find myself fighting positive change like the misery addict I am.] | |
