Every Day Is Like Valentine's Day

[Valentine's Day: what's the big deal? I've never understood the angst surrounding the day, nor the giddy delight. I've been happily and miserably coupled and happily and miserably single on this day, and I can't say my emotions have ever really undergone any kind of change because of February 14th as such.]

[This is beginning to sound like protesting too much. Chris and I will see each other tonight, I'll give him a card and some sugar, and it's likely to be swell. But most times with Chris are swell, except when they're not. He'd say the same about me. And as far as the love I have for him and for others, I take time every day to celebrate it. Occasionally to curse it. Unlike turkey, shamrocks, pumpkins and dead presidents, love's too important to require one day out of the year to remind us of how much it means.]

[I'm never more like one of Jehovah's Witnesses than on Valentine's Day.]
