[I went to pick up a buttload of study materials for the Bar exam at Chris's last night. He was going to take the exam this July, and indeed talked me into it as well. He realized a while back that he'll have no time to do it this time around, but I'm still going to give it a shot, and he's lending his Barbri library. It feels like I'm looking at this huge, steep mountain from the trailhead at the very bottom. "Ugh" doesn't begin to cover it.]

[It's nice of him to lend me the materials. This was the first time we'd seen each other since the events of two weeks ago. All I can say is I'm a much more visual and...how to put this?...olfactory person than I ever really knew. I dared not look back as I wheeled my bag o' books up Cole Street toward Haight.]

[Afterwards, I had some much needed friendship therapy from good ol' Sean and Allen at Sean's place before making it home. They'd been indulging in liquid therapy for a good piece before I arrived all sad and loaded down, and while there was no question of my catching up, they fed me beer, fines herbes, chile verde enchiladas, and reassurances. Don't make me start singing Dionne Warwick and Stevie Wonder, 'cause you don't want me to go there.]
