December 11, 2006 - 4:29 PM Fine Arts, Then A Cold, Then Monday [I hate that after having a really great day of getting lots of stuff done, pleasing the boss, pleasing the co-worker, pleasing the dogs, and pleasing myself, one medium-sized mistake made last week can be revealed in the late afternoon and send my mood down the toilet. Mondays, y'know? There oughta be a law.] [Anyway, I had a great day Saturday with Allen. He and Charlotte got memberships to the San Francisco Fine Arts Museums earlier this year, and haven't been using them to their full potential. A. and I decided to get some culchah and visit the de Young in Golden Gate Park.] [First, we got coffee in the Inner Sunset at that little cafe next to the Mucky Duck bar. Everyone I've ever known in San Francisco has tales of getting drunk at the Duck. What is it about that Duck? It threatened to rain, so we curtailed Still Life With Coffee On Ninth Avenue With Lemon Bar and hightailed it into the park. We made it into the museum after Allen gave me his canned spiel about when his mom used to take him to the Japanese Tea Garden when he was little. Mine didn't; we were more of an Academy of Sciences kind of family, if you know what I mean.] [We lingered in the view tower that caused so much controversy while it was abuilding, and remarked yet again on how much we love this damned city. Then it was time to look at the art. There was some quilt exhibit, some wire twisty woman exhibit, and some painters and stuff. A stroll thru the garden, and it was time to go home.] [A cold rainstorm pounded thru the city that afternoon and evening, and I got a cold that kept me in bed most of Sunday. I felt fine upon awakening, just in time for Monday. Bleah.] | |
