April 13, 2007 - 10:06 AM This Never Would've Happened With Bono [Caught the last bit of the story on NPR this morning about Paul Wolfowitz's trouble as World Bank head. The Yahoo! News/Bloomberg headline linked is "Wolfowitz fate in balance over ethics." Get it? "Balance?" Bank?] [Sorry. That's about my level this Friday the 13th. Boss-Man's been out of town since Wednesday, and I've been running the place. Pretty much OK (I mean, I'm finding time to blog, after all), but my mind was so distracted yesterday that, as I went to walk the Ridiculously Large Mastiff down by the Caltrain tracks, I locked myself out of Boss-Man's house. I had to call his girlfriend to come rescue me and the Mastiff, who was getting hungry.] [A hungry dog larger than most ponies isn't something you want to mess with for too long.] [My weekend plans? As the long-awaited wrap-up to Allen's 40th Birthday Eon, he, Carrie and I are going up to Freestone, this wide spot in the road up in Sonoma County that is nowhere near my parents' (it's a big county) to partake of a hippie spa. I've never done anything like this before; I hope I don't come back smelling of patchouli.] [After that will be a big, family-style Italian dinner in Occidental (probably here), which I have done before. I guess the thinking is that once you've detoxed, the only option is to retox with lots of cheap red wine and sodium-laden, fatty foods.] | |
