Little Blue Pill

[Some people have dust bunnies. I have little blue bits of pilled fluff. They get into everything and everywhere, especially when e. and e. are the slightest bit moist. (Yes.) And I can't get the bits out of my white socks, no matter the wash cycle.

[Next time, no dark blue flannel sheets or comforter for me.]

[It dawned on me the other day why I hated with such passion the phrase "I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'" when it first entered the popular lexicon about ten years ago. As an avowed passive-aggressive, I resent the baldfaced admission of aggressive-aggressive passive-agression the phrase connotes. The whole point is subtlety, people; you can't have it both ways! If you have to say it, you've already lost the fight.]

[What fight? you say. *sigh* Oh, nothing; everything's just fine...]

[Finally, Allen pointed out to me the other day that English-language idiom is oddly revelatory of our priorities: we say we're "in school" and "in bed," but "at work." A.'s thought was that we're much more involved in our education (and our sack time) than our jobs. I think it's probably just one of those things, but maybe not...]
