January 20, 2008 - 9:03 AM La Meme Chose [From the Angry Whatever Whatever, with whom I had a pretty good time last night drinking in North Beach with a Tribe acquaintance of his and Tribe acquaintance's friend:] Part the First - about me. 2. Birthday: 1969. June. Somewhere in the middle of the month. I'm a Gemini, which means I flit from flower to flower like a particularly distractable bumblebee. 3. Where do you live: The Haight-Ashbury District of San Francisco. I'm not a hippie, a hipster, or a gutter punk; I just ended up here six months ago. Rent's shockingly cheap, flatmates are fine, and I open up my front door upon a parkway fragrant with eucalyptus and other exciting smells. 4. Right or Left handed: Left. I do everything with my left except cut with scissors. 5. Favorite color: Blue. No, green! 6. Favorite sport: Pissing in people's punchbowls. If I ever start a 2.0 blog, I'm tempted to call it "Yeah, But..." 7. Biggest Fear: OK, so in a fit of haste, I answered this question on Joe.My.God last week as "the withdrawal of love." This sounds more portentous (and addicitive) than it is, and I don't really stand by it. I think my greatest fear right now is backsliding away from the personal progress I've been making recently. I don't have much confidence that I won't have some kind of horrible relapse. 8. Status: Can you be more specific? 9. Do you have a crush on someone? A minor one on a former coworker. Totally manageable, and I won't be seeing much of him going forward, so whatever. Part the Second - The Last Time You Had A . . . 1. Cigarette: I think I last took a puff off of one of when I was about 24. Nope, still didn't like it. 2. Beverage: Coffee. Mmmm, time for my third cup. BRB. 3. Kiss: See Crush Object, above. I planted a drunken, firm peck on his lips on Friday night after he helped me download the files I'll need to update the homepage later today. (Guess what? I'm the new Copy Chief at Red Room! Huzzah! My first professional editing gig.) A passle of coworkers left the corporate nerve center to wish him bon voyage at local drag dive Marlena's, proceeded to burgers and beer at the adjacent Flipper's, and I only remembered afterwards that I needed those files. (Great start, eh?) 4. Hug: Um, I think there were hugs last night as we left North Beach. It's a little fuzzy. I know I hugged Crush Object on Friday. 5. Movie seen: Persepolis early last week with the AYM. Next? The new Woody Allen, I think. 6. CD played: The Vice President and I did a raucous karaoke version of REO Speedwagon's "Take It On The Run" in honor of Crush Object's departure. VP had brought a copy of REO's Hi Infidelity into work for the purpose (C.O. hates classic rock), and I played it on my computer. 7. Song listened to: "Way Back Into Love" from Music and Lyrics. Chris has beaten me to death with this treacly ballad the last coupla days, with which he has developed a strange obsession. Send help. 8. Bubble bath: Yeah, I don't see what all the shouting's about. Most bathtubs are too short for me to stretch out in, so I end up with my knees sticking out of the water, my back hunched over, and not feeling particularly pampered. 9. Time you cried: Huh. I'm not sure. I believe it was Chris's fault... him and the vodka. But the actual occasion eludes me. Part the Third - Have-You-Ever's: 1. Dated one of your best friends or wanted to? I always want to. That's because I have no boundaries. Well, I'm experimenting with them now, but it's clear to everyone upon whom I impose a boundary that I'm totally amateur. They laugh and shake their heads. 2. Skinny dipped: Yes. I love it. One of the drawbacks of living in San Francisco is that we have at best an indifferent relationship with the not-very-Pacific Ocean, which is too cold and too rife with undertow, sharks, and the occasional oil spill to go into most of the time. There are nude beaches in the city, but the couple of times I went to them, it wasn't what I had in mind. 3. Kissed somebody and regretted it: The snap answer is "yes," but you know, I can't really think of any kisses I actually regret. 4. Liked someone you knew you couldn't have: All the time. See "boundaries," above. 5. Been overseas: That trip to Europe when I was seven; two trips to Hawaii in high school; three trips in three years to London with John, the third of which also included my family; and Greece with my law school class in 2003. Not nearly enough. 6. Dressed in costume: Every day I dress in costume. All we are is masks. 7. Been drunk: Er, yeah. 8. Run away: Nope. Too cowardly, or too sensible. Aren't those two sides of the same coin, especially for a kid? Part the Fourth - Two Things That You Want To Be When You Grow Up: | |
