April 15, 2008 - 7:19 PM Yeah [ME (Sitting at the computer, eating the 93rd burnt grilled-cheese sandwich to stink up Maison le Trou): I hate electric stoves.] ******* [Note to self: when planning a short afternoon out with a friend who's been very ill to celebrate his temporary return to San Francisco, DON'T take him up on his suggestion to wander around the extremely crowded Cherry Blossom Festival, especially when temps push past 80.] ******* [Happy birthday to "Pete" in Chicago!] ******* [The only good thing about the remake of A Room With A View on Masterpiece last Sunday was Sophie Thompson as cousin Charlotte. While we all remember Maggie Smith fondly in the role, Sophie brought a subtler neurosis to it that, while not superior, was certainly worth watching.] [The rest? Not so much. We didn't ask for Elizabeth McGovern's bad accent as she swooped thru the role of Mrs. Honeychurch like a demented harpy. We certainly didn't ask for a new, post-WWI epilogue, where widowed Lucy Honeychurch Emerson returns to Florence yet again and runs into the Italian wagon driver and they go for a picnic in THAT meadow. And that pond scene, the one that meant so much to certain budding sensibilities? Yeah...no.] ******** [I'm afraid Season Eight of Buffy jumped the shark, too. :( ] [Bingeing on back episodes of Battlestar Galactica and Torchwood, though? Yeah. Good.] | |
