L'update

[It's surprising how easy it is to let three weeks go by without blogging. No excuses. Here's what's been going on...]

[A friend died, really suddenly. What points the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat didn't hit, Max did. I'd gotten chummy with Chris again the last few years. Damn it. It shouldn't take something like that to tell my friends how much they mean to me, but as Max, Sean, Allen, and I stood there listening to Mark talk, I did.]

[Saw The Drowsy Chaperone with Mom, Annabelle, Kate (who's sick of being pregnant), Sean, and Allen. It was fluffy fun. Allen, Kate, and Mike didn't join for dinner at Espetus, which was my first experience with the gluttonous surfeit of Brazilian churrascaria. Oh, my.]

[Created two retrospective pages at Red Room. Yeah, I know we've only been live less than nine months, but between the original articles I've edited, and the multimedia extravaganza that is Belle Yang, it was time.]

[We ended two contests (the administration of which has taken a surprising amount of time) and I did blog there a couple of times.]

[I'm into the games, for the first time in several olympiads. The TV coverage doesn't bother me as much as it does some. I like some human interest story (though would it kill them to show a medal ceremony where some other anthem is played - I really need to hear
"Lijepa nijesa domovino"), and there was a story about pandas the other night that just got me. And what can one say about Michael Phelps that Costas hasn't said in! exclamation! points! already?!]

[What else? A nice dinner with Allen and Grgr in Diamond Heights the other night. Looking forward to a boozy, floozy brunch this weekend. Weekend following, a dinner for Dad up in Sonoma. And maybe, finally, some much needed liquidity.]
